The Dog Park at the Davie County Community Park is a great space for your pup to stretch their legs, socialize with other dogs, and relish in some off-leash freedom. There is a dedicated space for small dogs and a large dog park for dogs over 25 pounds. Visitors are required to purchase an annual dog pass.

Rich Park is another great getaway “daycation” to add to your pet-friendly itinerary, offering scenic nature trails with doggie waste stations that promote physical and emotional wellness for both you and your pet. Lake Louise and Farmington Nature Park both have hiking trails perfect for picturesque strolls with your four-legged pal. For more active play, consider bringing your dog for a dip at the Riverpark at Coolemee Falls! Known as “The Bullhole,” this family-friendly recreational park is a favorite swimming hole among locals. Dogs must stay on a leash while on all park grounds.

Unleash the Joy of Dining Outdoors

After an active day of play, there’s nothing like a hearty meal with a cold draft beer. Dining out doesn’t have to mean leaving your pup at home. Davie County has several restaurants with welcoming, pet-friendly outdoor spaces.

601 Burgers & Brews and La Carreta of Mocksville,  as well as The Davie Tavern and Tanglewood Pizza Company in Bermuda Run, each offer outdoor patio seating for leashed pets. If you’re cruising through downtown Mocksville, The Station General Store & Taproom, O’Callahan’s, and Restaurant 101 invite you and your doggo to enjoy some laid-back fare in their outdoor seating. Enjoy delicious meals, refreshing brews, and even live music while your furbaby lounges beside you after a day of play. Talented local artists frequent many of these establishments on Friday and Saturday nights.

The Station and Tanglewood Pizza Company are two of Davie County’s delicious restaurants that allow furry pals on their patios.

If you’re looking for a sweet treat after dinner, stop by Pelican SnoBalls or Scoops Ice Cream Shop in Mocksville or Sam’s Ice Cream in Bermuda Run. Their scoops are sure to satisfy a sweet tooth on a hot summer night!

On a slower morning during your weekend getaway, revel in the simple pleasures of gourmet coffee at Ketchie Creek Bakery, Maddie Cakes, or The Factory Coffee House. Their menus offer a selection of specialty coffee drinks, sandwiches, and pastries. Your pup will need to wait at their outdoor tables while you place your order. Ketchie Creek even offers handmade dog treats – the perfect take-home snack for your four-legged companion!

If you want to continue relishing in a slow weekend, stop by Lazy Elm Winery and Vineyard in Mocksville. Their beautiful 43 acres are a retreat of respite from the busy work week. Lazy Elm invites you to bring your pooch, grab a couple of glasses, and enjoy a lazy afternoon under their namesake elm tree. Four legged friends must enjoy the scenery outside.
