Your Guide to the Best Restaurant in Davie County

Discover the Best…

Everybody knows the way to discover the best food in town: follow the locals.

Well, hold on to your appetizers because we have some of the best food in the Piedmont Triad area, and we are letting y’all in on our hometown dining secrets.

Epic Breakfasts

It’s more than just pancakes! If you are looking for an epic breakfast, a great place to start is at the 801 Southern Kitchen & Pancake House. You will find a warm welcome and a family atmosphere, as well as lots of breakfast choices.

For breakfast on the run, The Factory Coffeehouse is the perfect place to find a quick and delicious smoothie. Toasty bagels or brioche are just right with their hot drinks or their specially roasted and expertly brewed coffee!

Ketchie Creek Bakery is considered the standard for breakfast muffins around here. They always have lots of flavors. On top of that, you can get quiche or some pretty incredible cinnamon rolls and coffee. They are breakfast pros. Next time you have a business meeting, plan to have it here and find out for yourself.

Super Snacking

We have all asked ourselves the question; is ice cream a dessert, or is it a snack? A visit to an old-fashioned ice cream parlor in historic downtown Mocksville such as Scoops Ice Cream Parlor may help you find the answers to this and other questions in life.

The Station is our go-to for nabs, nostalgic candy by the pound, or even a craft beer (please do not criticize other people’s snacking choices).

After a day trip to RiverPark, discover icy and creamy refreshment at Hot Diggity Dogs & Ice Cream. You can grab a savory hot dog or homemade soup (soup can be a snack!) too.

Lunch Favorites

You cannot go wrong with classic casual dining at Venezia Italian Restaurant or with the generous and delicious servings at Shiki,  La Carreta, Domingo’s, and Marco’s

Did you think we could forget to mention barbecue? Davie County offers the best, and you will find it at Deanos! They serve amazing BBQ selections and quintessential southern side dishes like hush puppies, okra, and slaw that will make you smile.

Heat things up at East Coast Wings. They have seven heat indexes (we are pretty sure this is so you can dare your friends) and you will find kid-friendly choices on their menu too.

601 Burgers & Brews has something for everyone – incredible hand-cut burgers, fresh salads, and vegetarian dishes. Even their special blend of custom seasonings is made from scratch.

Davie Tavern’s food is always fresh and made from scratch.

Davie Tavern’s seasoned chefs are known for making everything from scratch and to order. They have an excellent selection of wine and spirits to go along with their freshly made foods.

Enjoy the Irish charm at O’Callahan’s for lunch. It’s the only place in town to indulge in Irish specialties such as Bangers and Mash, Corned Beef and Cabbage, Shepherd’s Pie or Fish and Chips, or a unique variety of sandwiches, burgers, or salads. Top it all off with one of the 17 on tap local and limited release brews they serve or a wee dram from their extensive selection of single malts.

Supper – Just Like Grammy Made

Too tired to cook after a busy day or week? We have better than home cooking. Many of these restaurants have you covered with takeout options also!

Established in 1952, Miller’s family-style cooking has always been a local favorite. When you stop by, you don’t want to miss a chance to sample their famous pimento cheeseburger. They have daily specials with that taste of home!

Speaking of down-home cooking, check over at the Facebook page for The Feedbag to find out what is on their menu.

Restaurant 101 has anything you crave plus reliably great food and outstanding service.

Maw Maw’s kitchen provides genuine country cooking, including a melt-in-your-mouth chicken pie that is to-die-for.

Specialties

Some Davie County chefs have a golden gourmet touch, and some put a creative twist on traditional recipes. We wish we could mention all the unique menu items you can find here, but we will content ourselves to mention the most well-known specialties.

You will want to stop in at O’Callahan’s for the warm Irish pub atmosphere, but the mind-blowing menu is what will have you hanging around longer than you planned! The cuisine has been described as “classic Irish favorites with a modern southern twist,” and we think that is very accurate. Each week, their classically trained chefs (with a combined experience of 40 plus years) custom brine brisket for the restaurant’s corned beef recipes and use fresh local ingredients to create truly memorable meals.

Tanglewood Pizza has gourmet pizzas, sandwiches, and side dishes, but you have to try their Pimento Macaroni and Cheese. We love this mashup of two family favorites!

The Tanglewood Pizza pimento Mac-N-Cheese special is topped with chicken, tomato, red onions, and croutons.

If you are looking for Asian foods, try Jade Garden Asian Restaurant. Shiki of Mocksville has authentic Japanese food, and  Dynasty Chinese Restaurant does Chinese food right.

Sunday Funday Brunch!

We cannot overstate the magic of Sunday brunch. Brunch is for celebrating a special occasion or making any old occasion special. It even adds cache to hanging with your girls on the weekend.

At Davie Tavern, there always seems to be something new (and flavorful) on the menu and it’s all from scratch!

When you are downtown in Mocksville, pop in at O’Callahan’s Irish Publick House and “Build Your Own Mimosa” to compliment your Crab Cake, Benedict, perfectly. Like we said, magic!

Your Just Desserts

Ketchie Creek Bakery desserts have been a staple of Davie County homes for 37 years, and they now have a second location in Clemmons, so the joy is spreading. You have to see all the sweet deliciousness at Maddie Cakes Bakery. Everything there is beautiful as well as divine.

In the spirit of being transparent, we will share one of the best-kept dessert secrets in town, Mountaintop Cheesecakes. It is so much fun looking through all the many flavors and picking out your personal-sized cheesecake. You can also order a full-size one- if you are going to share.

Winning Your Weekend

Weekends are for unwinding and renewing. You can count on an entertaining weekend around here- we love live music, festivals, and food trucks. The Station, a converted 1920’s gas station, is a hub of fun in downtown Mocksville.

The modern-day General Store and Taproom are always busy with family activities, live music, and trivia nights. They host visits from food trucks, or you can have food delivered to their pet-friendly outdoor seating area by Restaurant 101. You will relish their selection of ciders, craft beers, and local wines. Browse the store for old-fashioned candies, ice cream, or snowballs.

You may not know that our Yadkin Valley vineyards are renowned for their spectacular views and splendid wines. Davie County is home to Dove Vine Beverage, Rayson Winery and Vineyards, and Lazy Elm Vineyards. These lovely venues not only make the wines we love but also host music events and our favorite food trucks. Our weekends are more relaxing thanks to them and all they offer.
