Winter Fun for Everyone
The annual “Twas the Night Before Bed Race” is a quirky competition not to be missed. Mark the advent of the holiday season with us and cheer on participants as they sprint (and roll) to victory.
Each year we meet on the Friday night before Thanksgiving to watch dozens of teams compete with themed and decorated “beds”. Bleacher seating around the square in downtown Mocksville assures you will have a great view of the racing action. Our excellent local eating establishments ensure you access to the perfect cup of cocoa to keep you warm.
Holiday Mode Activate
When they flip the switch and turn on the Christmas lights lining the buildings on Main Street the evening of the bed race – holiday mode has been activated and historic downtown Mocksville has free activities going on every weekend: the Hometown Parade, carriage rides, ice sculptures, visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, carolers serenading shoppers and more. For the latest updates all season long, follow us on Instagram and Facebook and bookmark our page!
The holiday cheer is just getting started. Christmas in the Town of Bermuda Run involves crazy Christmas sweaters, decorating gingerbread houses, lighting the town’s holiday tree, music, decorations, crafts for the kids and a visit from Santa.
The Grinch makes an appearance for a fun playdate with the kids, thanks to our local Recreation and Parks department. COGNITION is an amazing interactive learning space at all times, but their December calendar highlights fun life skills for your whole family such as DIY holiday crafts and baking for all ages!
Rockin’ around the Christmas Tree
Live music performances are part of our everyday lives around here so it goes without saying that it is essential during the holidays! Bands and carolers stroll our towns and enliven your holiday shopping, dining or weekend brunch.
Holiday Open Houses like the ones at RayLen Vineyards and Winery make the most of our local musical talent! The Davie County Arts Council hosts a free Christmas concert each year at The Brock Performing Arts Center which is a wonderful time for family and friends to gather.
But if you prefer more of a “silent night”, ramble down Main Street in Mocksville any evening and enjoy a quiet conversation along sidewalks and buildings lined with decorations and romantic lights. On some weekends you can even take a nostalgic horse drawn carriage around the town. Afterward, stop in at the local shops and get your holiday home decor and gift shopping started or just do some strategic window shopping.
